Marketing Communications Specialist – Content Strategist

The Position

We’re looking for a communications specialist to join the web services team. We support multiple efforts, including the public-facing patient website, ufhealth.org, which includes seven hospitals and over one hundred outpatient clinics; the UF Health intranet site, Bridge, which provides collaborative workspaces and resources for over 15,000 staff and students; the UF Health Directory; and consultation and audit services for academic health centers, including colleges, institutes, and programs.

Working with assistant manager of web services, the communications specialist plans, designs, executes, and continually improves content for ufhealth.org. The specialist will also play a key role is developing best practice standards on content, digital asset management, and auditing procedures.

The position is full-time and based in Gainesville, Florida.

What you’ll be doing

  • Optimizing and improving content for ufhealth.org and the UF Health Bridge intranet. You’ll work closely with the UF Health Communications team to identify business goals and with the Web Services team to test and study audience needs, and then plan and execute content strategies to optimize ufhealth.org, the enterprise, patient-focused website for UF Health’s hospitals and outpatient clinics. In addition, you’ll help in refining the UF Health intranet for faculty, physicians and staff. Will continually analyze the taxonomy that drives the Enterprise UF Health websites and determine methods for continual improvements to deliver relevant, timely information to core audiences.
  • Consult for other UF Health properties. You’ll provide audits and best practices for UF Health supported websites, including the six Academic Health Center colleges, as well as institutes, centers, and other academic websites.

Responsibilities

  • Works with a multidisciplinary team of designers, programmers, communicators, marketers, and subject matter experts to identify and develop opportunities for better content and to increase quality and consistency
  • Develops user experiences to improve patients in researching and making healthcare decisions
  • Develops and documents guidelines for digital asset management, tone and voice, and content auditing procedures, both for our flagship website as well as for the larger organization

Social Media Coordinator (Gainesville)

Telling the stories of our doctors, their patients, and our researchers and staff – that’s at the heart of this position. The social media coordinator is responsible for telling the UF Health story on multiple platforms and in measuring and reporting these results.

We’re looking for a person with at least 4 years experience in managing online communities. The position is full-time and based in Gainesville, Florida.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing UF Health’s primary social media accounts and blog, engaging patients, students, and the community. You’ll work closely with our news, marketing and creative services teams to develop social campaigns to meet UF Health’s strategic communications goals, educate the public and improve health literacy, and promote our campus’ education and research missions. You’ll help coordinate our editorial calendar with other social media managers within UF Health and throughout the university.
  • Identifying trending stories and topics on social media and pitching ways UF Health can join in on the conversation that will help patients and their families.
  • Informing senior leadership of our social media efforts and community sentiment, through reports, case studies, and presentations. We’ll also encourage you to share your findings with the larger social media, healthcare, and higher education communications community – we believe strongly in providing professional development, both for our team and for others.
  • Providing training and support for UF Health’s social media community. As the primary social media communicator in the organization, you’ll provide a key role in guiding social efforts throughout our organization by holding biannual trainings and informal discussions with other account managers and editors. You’ll also assist in drafting best practices and social media policies for the academic health center, and will review proposals for new social media accounts in partnership with our communications specialists.
