Ufhealth.org to Get Revamped with New Features
|
|
The Web Services team has been hard at work collaborating with various departments and units within UF Health to prepare version 2.0 of UFHealth.org, the organization's main patient facing website. We are expecting to launch the website in the coming months. The new website will boast a brand-new design (based on Apollo 2.0) along with major new features and improvements to the user experience. Additionally, new Apollo 2.0 blocks will be introduced to better integrate content found on UFHealth.org onto your existing websites (such as clinical trials, clinic locations, and more). Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks.

Web Services Conducts Annual Audit to Ensure Website Content is Up-to-Date
|
|
Every year, Web Services checks all websites and Bridge collaboration groups to make sure they are up-to-date. This is called an audit. An audit helps to ensure that information on the web is accurate and that the websites are still being properly used. The audit process consists of two types: website audit and bridge group audit. If a website or collaboration group have not been updated for more than 12 months, it will be flagged, and the administrators of the website or group will be contacted by a member of Web Services.
If you receive an email from Web Services, it means that your website or group has not been updated in over 12 months. They will ask you questions to better understand your needs for your website, if there are ways we can assist, or if we can look to retire it all together.

Update Your Anchor Tag Code to Ensure In-Page Links Work Properly
If you have created an anchor tag on a webpage to link to a specific location on the same page, you may have been instructed to use certain code to do so. However, there have been changes to how this code is supported in many web browsers, and we recommend updating your code to ensure that your in-page links work correctly. To make this update, we suggest replacing the "name" attribute in your anchor tag code with "id". Here is an example of what your updated code should look like:
Before: <a name="learn-more"></a> After: <a id="learn-more"></a>
If you have any questions about this update or need assistance with making the changes, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are happy to help you with this update to ensure that your website functions properly.

Duplicate Category and Tag Names
WordPress has a bug that prevents you from recategorizing posts to categories with a shared name with a tag on your site. To fix this problem, you need to access the Categories and Tags list under "Posts" in the dashboard menu. Check for any duplicated category or tag names and either rename or remove one of them to make sure it appears only once.
If you choose to remove a tag or category, it will only be removed from the post or page, not from the post or page itself. Renaming a tag or category will only change how it appears on posts or pages.
It's crucial to resolve this issue to ensure your website functions correctly. Take action to update your website and avoid any inconvenience caused by this bug.

Keep Your Website Content Fresh with the Stale Content Audit Tool
|
|
The Stale Content Audit tool checks a website for pages and posts that haven't been updated in six months, which is known as "stale" content. Users will receive a report by email from the tool, showing which content needs to be updated or addressed on all the sites they can edit. The email contains basic information, a CSV file with the data and a link to a WordPress page where they can see the data.
Site administrators will receive a separate CSV file with all the stale content data from across the website. If a user is the Lead Site Administrator, they will receive a report on all stale pages for all users on that website.
The tool also assigns "ownership" of a page or post to the user who last edited it until another user updates it. This audit helps keep the website's content fresh and updated.

University-approved Software Tools: Fast Path Solutions
|
|
The university has a website where you can find approved software tools. It's called the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) website. To access the website, you need to log in with your Gatorlink account.
The website has a feature called Fast Path Solutions, which can help you find approved software for your project. For example, if you need an appointment booking tool, you can use Microsoft Bookings instead of Calendly, which is not approved.
Before using a software like Canva for image editing, you may need to ask the IRM team for permission depending on how you plan to use it.
