Website Accessibility Deadline extended to April 26, 2027

Close up of hands using laptop

The ADA Title II web accessibility deadline has been extended by one year, with a new deadline of April 26, 2027. Keep up the good work on your efforts to keep your website compliant and use tools such as Ally to scan your site for issues that you can resolve, and review the documents in your Media Library for compliance.

Note: This deadline affects public-facing websites and applications, and not Bridge websites as they fall under a separate title of the ADA.

Discover data with the UF Health Directory Report Builder

UF Health Web Services recently launched the beta of the Directory Report Builder. If you haven’t tried it out yet, it’s worth a look!

Need a list of publications from faculty in a specific department? Grants awarded to UF Health research staff in a specific timeframe? The Directory Report Builder is built to do just that.

This tool lets you pull detailed reports on UF Health faculty and staff across all regions— publications, research grants, board certifications, course teaching history, and much more. Just define who and what you want to include using a simple set of rules, and the report builds itself. No programming required!

Mailster Accessibility Updates

email-icon

Web Services has updated the Mailster templates to meet WCAG AA 2.1 accessibility standards, but the content you add also needs to be accessible.

Please note that newsletters published or sent before April 24th are considered archived material and are exempt from the new accessibility requirements under the DOJ web accessibility rule. These newsletters have "archive" in their URL to indicate their status. Going forward, new newsletters will also move to archive URLs after one month and links will automatically redirect.

Header Module Added for Mailster

Header module

The UF Health Blue template for Mailster newsletters received an update to help with some spacing issues present at the top of the newsletter template’s header section. A new Header module has been created to nicely align a logo image and subject line text, and reduce the amount of space below the header and the modules for newsletter content.

Note: Please recreate any newsletters using the UF Health Blue template in order to see the update. Duplicating old newsletters will duplicate the old template code and not allow the updated code to appear in your duplicate.

Older Forms Updated

html5

Older forms on your site may be using a setting to preserve old code(as a part of the migration into the Apollo 2 templates for older sites). Last month, after extensive testing, we turned this setting off on all forms (for accessibility reasons). While our testing uncovered no issues, please let us know if you encounter any issues with your older forms.

Retirement of Classic Editor

CH-new-page

Web Services will retire support for the WordPress Classic Editor on June 30, 2026. Many of our admins used the classic editor to migrate their sites from Apollo 1 to Apollo 2.

The new WCAG AA 2.1 guidelines make the editor unsuitable for creating accessible pages. On June 30, Web Services will move all pages using the classic editor to the block editor. The block editor is the standard and fully supported editing format for WordPress. This switch will be automatic and require no action on your part.
